You may or may not like the music of Kiss, but they do know how to put on a show…and those guys are 60 years old! That might tell you something. If they can get up and do it so can you so I don’t want to see anymore bands get up on stage and waste my time and money. If you’re new, I’ll take a chance on seeing ya, but if you don’t put out I wont be seeing you again. Kiss delivers. Bluesfest rocks!
Best new groups? Guess so. Haven’t heard of any of them all year and I go to clubs…
Congrats Tokyo Sex Whale!
It’s true Zaphod’s has cool bar staff. Too bad Maverick’s didn’t get in there this year. I mean I miss Barrymore’s but since they don’t have any shows anymore for bands, a guy needs to get his live fix somewhere. Capital City only has a few good shows per year. Mavericks wins for me for 2009. Lacuna Coil rocked!
Those have got to be some of the most obvious winners ever. Not to mention some of the worst.
This town still sucks
Ahora is not cheap, Kinky is overpriced and mediocre at best, the byward market sells the most imported goods of all the farmers markets in Ottawa…
And Seasons Pizza is not even in the running for za. Phatmoose not in for bike shop? Boo
Who was the winner on the "Best rock/pop/dance/other album/EP of 2009". It seems to have skipped that category.
Here is just a little personal input on the "best of" Ottawa. I know many may not agree but damn if there is anything in life I know about .. it’s food.
1. Sushi Kan?
Best all-you-can-eat… To be honest even if I can eat all i want.. I dont want to. If you really want to check out a decent place. Go to Banc Sushi on montreal rd. Pay in cash get 10% off. Also dont miss out on their bbq short-ribs, they are sometimes slightly on the fatty side but just all around goodness.
2. Sharwama King?
Ok maybe back in the day when The King is where now The Queen.. but hands down best place is Sharwama Palace. DO YOU SEE the size of their plates? Say your a student and pay cash get a discount.
3. Best Pho/Viet.
Ok ok.. Pho bo Ga … good place for pho. (shout out to Simon…works at L.A the one with only noodles). If you want to eat some decent food – Check out Mee Xim across the street from pho ba ga LA on sommerset (well there all on sommerset). Special A – FANTASTIC pork chops on rice. #803 that satay sauce is heaven with beef. you can eat for 10$ and be on cloud nine..
4. Best south asian.
I guess Indian food is counted for this, Well how is Little India Cafe forgotten? Even though its SO FAR from center town (near bayshore on carling, across from the Colliseum). How do I know its good? My "brown" friends say its Yum…. Hey.. if its close to mama’s its good enough for me. But get take-out its cheaper :p
"Nest" on Dalhousie St! Yea!!
