A law firm in Montreal files a request to sue Robert G. Miller
A law firm in Montreal has asked for a class-action lawsuit against a well-known businessman in Quebec who is said to have paid minors for sex.
Consumer Law Group is representing the main plaintiff, a Montreal woman who was 17 when she met Robert G. Miller and had sex with him about 10 times over the course of two years, according to the lawsuit.
Miller and Future Electronics, a company he helped start in Montreal, are being sued. The main plaintiff is asking for $1.5 million in punitive damages, and the other alleged victims are asking for amounts to be decided.
Miller said he was stepping down as chairman and CEO of the company earlier this month so he could focus on protecting his reputation after Radio-Canada and the CBC said he allegedly gave 14- to 17-year-old girls money and gifts in exchange for sex between 1994 and 2006.
Miller has said in a statement that the accusations are malicious, false, and not backed up by any evidence. Several attempts to get in touch with Miller today failed.
Future Electronics didn’t answer right away when asked for a comment, and none of the claims have been proven in court.
Jeffrey Orenstein, the lawyer in charge of the lawsuit, wants people to come forward and says that anyone who does will be able to stay anonymous.
